What are Learning Themes?

Learning Themes will enable Observatory Users to consider and contribute to the research and evidence base in relation to a particular learning issue in Wales. Users will be able to debate and discuss issues relevant to national or regional policy and share their experiences, activities and concerns.

Learning Themes also provide a research base for policy makers who want views on new or existing programmes or want to assess responses to new strategies and approaches.

Who are they for?

Learning Themes aim to engage policy makers, academics and learning practitioners amongst others.

Participating in a Learning Theme

Register your interest in a Learning Theme.

1. Receive a research brief summarising existing knowledge on a thematic area for discussion
2. Receive access to key documents and research in the Learning Theme area of the LSO Wales website 
3. Contribute to an email discussion (on-line forums when they become available)
4. Option to participate in face-to-face workshop
5. Receive a copy of the Final Report

Welcome to the first Learning Theme - The Skills Divide. To kick off this new series we begin with the broad topic of Skills Development with a particular focus on whether a demand-led approach can tackle the training divide.
